Adaptions for Reform:A Harmony of Human Evolutionary Science
Scientists who identify human adaptations for group living argue that two million years of human social evolution do not disappear in two hundred years of industrial and technological urbanization, but persist as basic dynamics of group behavior. Interestingly, Scripture presumes these same adaptations, as we will see in Luke’s gospel. Incorporating the two, we may reinvigorate the roles of Elder, Deacon, Pastor and Member and revitalize our congregations. Leader: Jeff Hayes

Event Details

Next Church 2012 Workshop Groups offer an extraordinary opportunity to explore and discuss the details of very specific topics and interest areas as part of our process to discern what God has in store. As Charlene Han Powell, Teaching Elder Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York, said, "I am going to the Next Conference because its existence is about being community . . . a community where all voices are heard because all voices matter."

If you have not registered, go to http://nextchurch2012.org to join us!

In order to plan accommodations at the Conference, we ask that you indicate your preference for TWO of the listed Workshops. They are first-come, first-serve, so please reply at your earliest convenience. They will be held on Feb. 27, as follows:

The mission of NEXT Church is to foster relationships among God’s people: sparking imaginations, connecting congregations, offering a distinctively Presbyterian witness to Jesus Christ. Trusting in God’s sovereignty and grace, NEXT Church will engage the church that is becoming by cultivating vital connections, celebrating emerging leadership and innovation, and working with congregations and leaders to form and reform faith communities.
